On February 24 of this year, AFEPASA obtained the official Plant Protection Registration of its sulphur tablets 'AFEPASA Greenhouse Sulphur Tablets' in the Netherlands (Registration No. N-16161). The AFEPASA Greenhouse Sulphur Tablets, authorized for use in evaporators in greenhouses as a sustainable and effective method in the fight against powdery mildew in a wide variety of crops.
The ‘AFEPASA Greenhouse Sulphur Tablets’ are the result of a close collaboration between the Dutch Greenhouse Association LTO Nederland (Netherlands Agricultural and Horticultural Association), the Dutch sulphur evaporator manufacturer Nivola and AFEPASA.
'AFEPASA Greenhouse Sulphur Tablets' are 99.9% pure sulphur tablets that fit perfectly in the evaporators, which facilitates their safe use by the worker and avoids spills while refilling evaporators. At the same time, filling the evaporators is cleaner and easier with these tablets, reducing the time a worker is in direct contact with the product to a minimum.
Powdery mildew is a constant threat to a wide variety of greenhouse cultivated crops. However, the number of authorized plant protection tools for the prevention and / or eradication of powdery mildew in greenhouses is scarce.
Sulphur is one of the oldest active substances in the agricultural world and its efficacy against powdery mildew has been well known since Roman times. In addition, sulphur is an authorized active substance for organic farming and due to its low toxicity, it does not have an MRL. Therefore, the ‘AFEPASA Greenhouse Sulphur Tablets’ tablets are positioned as an efficient, ecological and residue-free tool in the fight against powdery mildew. In addition, since the action of sulphur against powdery mildew is multi-site, there are no resistance problems and it can be used always according to label indications.
Drs. M.L. Lestraden-Middelweerd, general director of Nivola, recognizes the important role that evaporated sulphur has in greenhouses in the Netherlands and other regions in the world, since it is "one of the most effective methods to guarantee the prevention and control of powdery mildew in greenhouse crops".
After obtaining the official Plant Protection Registration in the Netherlands for its 'AFEPASA Greenhouse Sulphur Tablets', AFEPASA is now working to extend the registration of the product to all other countries of the European Union to be able to offer all greenhouse crop producers this effective, safe ecological and zero-residue product against powdery mildew.
