• To inform, train and motivate our team so that these commitments are understood, put into practice and kept up to date.

 

AFEPASA adheres to an environmental policy that focuses on the protection of the environment and the contribution to the sustainable development of agriculture. The environment is one of the priorities of our company. This is why we carry out all our industrial activities and sales network operations with the help of an Ecological Management System (EMS).

This integrated management system, in accordance with the guidelines of ISO 14001, makes it possible to identify problems and reduce risks, as well as ensure a continuous improvement of processes.

In order to ensure that the operation of the AFEPASA factory does not have any negative impact on the environment, a set of measures have been implemented, of which the following can be highlighted:

• Rationalise the consumption of water and energy as much as possible, through the efficiency of our internal processes.
• Raise staff awareness through training and awareness programmes on the importance of the correct development of their activities, encouraging their involvement in achieving the objectives.
• Promote the reuse, recycling and  management of wastein an environmentally friendly manner.
• Prevent atmospheric pollution that could be associated with our productive activities, taking into account the available technical and economic means, minimizing chemical emissions and establishing adequate control, monitoring and correction mechanisms.

In any case, AFEPASA has always proven its desire to be among the best in the field of quality and environmental friendliness, and for this reason, we regularly adapt the Environmental Policy to the new objectives of the organization, matching any new needs that arise.

EMAS REGISTRATION

The EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) Register is the voluntary regulation of the European Union that recognises those organisations that have implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) and have undertaken to continuously improve, being verified by independent audits.

In 2007, AFEPASA registered its production facilities through the Generalitat de Catalunya (ES-CAT-000239), including our factory in this system.

At AFEPASA, we maintain our commitment to comply with these regulations, in accordance with a defined environmental policy and the use of our own environmental management system, all verified by independent bodies that certify the internal operation of this system.

ISO 45001 is an international standard that establishes a set of requirements that occupational health and safety management systems must meet, and enables an organisation to control its occupational risks and improve its management.

Some of the benefits available to organisations after implementation of a health and safety at work management system in accordance with ISO 45001 are:

• Eradication of hazards or reduction in SST-related risks.

AFEPASA was evaluated this January by Ecovadis and the result has been this Silver Medal. Within our sector, of the 2,500 companies that exist, we are among the best 8%.

Sustainability is the permanent commitment to act responsibly by integrating social and environmental issues into the company's operations. Sustainability goes beyond compliance with legislation to focus on how companies manage their economic, social and environmental impact, as well as their relationships with stakeholders (eg employees, business partners or government).

The EcoVadis methodological framework assesses the policies and actions of companies, as well as their published reports related to the environment, labor relations and human rights, ethics and sustainable purchasing. Our team of international sustainability experts analyzes and verifies company data (supporting documents, 360 ° Watch findings, etc.) to create reliable ratings taking into account the sector, size and geographic location of each company.
