AFEPASA will showcase its value proposition for vineyard cultivation at Agrovid 2022

• Agrovid, taking place from 22 to 24 March in Valladolid, is one of Spain’s leading trade fairs for the wine-growing sector.
• At this must-attend event, AFEPASA will showcase its solutions for vine health, nutrition and biostimulation.

AFEPASA, a leading European company in the production of sulphur and its applications, will participate in Agrovid, which will hold its second edition as a professional trade fair from 22 to 24 March in Valladolid. Organised by Feria de Valladolid, with the collaboration of the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Castilla y León and Cantabria and the professional agricultural organisations ASAJA, Alianza por la Unidad del Campo and Unión de Campesinos de Castilla y León, Agrovid has established itself as one of the leading trade fairs for the wine-growing sector. The event will bring together agricultural professionals, including farmers, technicians, regulatory councils and appellations of origin, winemakers, associations and cooperatives, among others.

AFEPASA will actively participate in Agrovid with an exhibition stand – Stand 253, in Hall 2 – and will also organise a technical seminar. It will take place on 23 March at 6:00 p.m. at the Feria de Valladolid Congress Centre and will consist of two sessions. First, Jesús Yuste, PhD in Agricultural Engineering and viticulture researcher at the Technological Institute of Agrarian Research of Castilla y León (ITACYL), will explain in his presentation, “Vineyard sustainability: between necessity and cultivation criteria”, when intervention is necessary and how it should be carried out.

Secondly, Guillermo Vázquez, Agricultural Engineer and Head of R&D Trials at AFEPASA, will present “AFEPASA solutions for salinity and alkalinity in vineyard soils”, highlighting the benefits of elemental sulphur in the soil, its role in regulating pH and EC, and its ability to unlock micro- and macronutrients.

Within this framework, AFEPASA will showcase its innovative value proposition for vine cultivation. Indeed, sulphur stands out for its ability to provide vineyards with plant protection, fertilising and biostimulant properties.

On the one hand, sulphur has enormous potential for the effective protection of vineyards. In this regard, AFEPASA has developed products that provide comprehensive protection for vines, including:

• Azufre Sublimado Flor Pallarés: a unique product on the market, obtained through reverse sublimation. It has a distinctive particle morphology that promotes the release of sulphur gas at lower temperatures and provides greater adhesion to the plant surface.
• Solfoxidante: a sulphur-based formulation containing potassium permanganate as an adjuvant. It provides excellent prevention against powdery mildew, thanks to its 80% sulphur content, as well as an eradicant and curative effect against fungi through its oxidising action on the leaf.
• Azufre Micronizado P300/80 – Especial Secante: a dusting formulation with an inert carrier, intended for fungicidal and acaricidal treatments, with effective regulation of surface moisture on the plant.
• Azufre Micronizado P300/100: intended for dusting applications as a fungicidal and acaricidal treatment. Thanks to its particle size, it combines a rapid knock-down effect with long-lasting protection.

On the other hand, sulphur also acts as a natural fertilising substance and delivers excellent results as a biostimulant. The following AFEPASA products are particularly noteworthy:

• CUPRAZUFRE 2: a fertiliser based on elemental sulphur and copper for direct application to the soil and vines, specially designed to prevent and correct potential deficiencies of these two nutrients.
• Microsul 40S: a concentrated suspension biostimulant suitable for foliar spraying and direct application to the soil through irrigation. Its many benefits include helping combat water stress, correcting the pH of alkaline soils and remaining in the soil without losses through leaching.
• Organosul 20S: a highly concentrated biostimulant made from plant extracts enriched with elemental sulphur. It is used to improve the biological and physicochemical properties of soils. Thanks to its high organic matter content, it increases cation exchange capacity (CEC) and improves soil structure.
