Citrus cultivation is a key agricultural activity in eastern and southern Spain, especially in regions such as the Valencian Community, Andalusia, and the Region of Murcia. These regions account for more than 309,000 hectares, representing 96% of the national citrus-growing area, and make up 1.25% of the country’s total agricultural land.
With the arrival of spring, the scent of orange blossom signals the beginning of flowering—a decisive stage for the success of the season. Citrus yield largely depends on fruit set, the process by which fertilized flowers develop into viable fruits.
Why is successful fruit set essential?
Fruit set begins after flower fertilization. If this process does not occur properly—due to a lack of nutrients, environmental stress, or hormonal imbalances—the opportunity to produce high-quality fruit is lost. This is where tryptophan plays a decisive role. It is an essential amino acid involved in this critical process.
Tryptophan and auxins: physiological keys
Tryptophan is a precursor of auxins, plant hormones responsible for the formation of the pollen tube—a structure necessary for the fertilization of the ovule by the pollen. Additionally, auxins stimulate cell division, nutrient transport, and fruit retention, all of which have a direct impact on fruit size and harvest quality.
Triumphalis: biostimulant action at critical moments
Triumphalis is a product formulated with Sultech sulfur and a rich source of free amino acids, including tryptophan. Its application is especially recommended during flowering and fruit set stages, when the plant needs support to ensure effective fertilization and proper early fruit development.
Thanks to its combined action, Triumphalis promotes the development of healthy reproductive structures, improves fruit retention, and helps maintain the hormonal balance necessary for a uniform and high-quality harvest—sustainably and efficiently.
